Celebrating their 100th year, Grampian Police Pipe Band are to play in Ballater this weekend.
See the Launch of the New Tartan at Balmoral

The band will perform alongside the Ballater and District Pipe Band at Kirk Green, Ballater, from 3pm on Sunday, May 27 2007.

Chief Inspector McMillan, the Band Manager, said:  "We wanted to mark the centenary by playing throughout the region and within our communities.  It is equally important to support other local bands from where a number of our own players started out."

Ballater and District Pipe Band Pipe Major Ian Smith said:  "The majority of our pipers and drummers have been taught within the band and this is a great opportunity for them to play alongside a top band.  We'd love to hear from anyone wanting to play in the band or to discuss learning the pipes or drums."

This event will be the first opportunity for the public to see the Grampian Police Pipe Band wearing their new tartan, which was designed to mark their 100th anniversary by Pipe Major Drew Sinclair and Drum Major Bill Barclay.
