Grampian Police Pipe Band continued their impressive start to the 2008 season recording their first competition wins at the weekends contest in Aberdeen.
On Sunday 15 June 2008, the Band competed in both grade 2 and grade 1 competitions at the annual Aberdeen Highland Games.
The Band won both competitions, recording their best results since 2006. Pipe Major Drew Sinclair said, "I thought we played quite well today and we are beginning to see the results from many hours of hard work at practices. Whilst the ensemble could have been better, I was really pleased we were able to field 22 Pipers and a good sized Drum Corps in both competitions. We have another 4 side and 2 tenor drummers as well as additional pipers to add and I am confident the Bands overall sound will improve as a result." |

The Band will next compete at the British Pipe Band Championships, in Birmingham on Saturday 28 June, 2008.
PM Sinclair continued, " Whilst one result doesn't make a season, it is nice to win both competitions here in Aberdeen. This result will hopefully give us confidence to take with us into the British Championships in Birmingham and allow us to show just what we can do in the national arena."
