Grampian Police Pipe Band took another big step forward in their season with a solid performance at the weekends British Pipe Band Championships.
On Saturday 29 June 2008, the Band competed against some of the best Grade 2 Bands at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, and secured a welcomed place in the prize list, coming sixth overall.
The Band, eleventh in their last major outing earlier in the year, were clearly thrilled to be back amongst the prizes. Pipe Major Drew Sinclair said, “I thought we played well and put in a very solid performance today. I’m especially pleased to see the pipe corps placed a very credible 3rd and 5th. Nicky, Colin and I need to look at the feedback for ways to improve the disappointing ensemble marks which cost us a higher place, but overall we have got to be happy with how much we’ve improved since the Scottish Championships.”

Talking about the Bands season so far, Pipe Major Sinclair continued, “We are getting better as the season continues and that was always our aim for this year. Hopefully we can take this momentum forward and continue building for the Europeans and then the Worlds. ”
The European Championships will be held in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, on Saturday 26 July 2008, with the Worlds later at Glasgow Green on Saturday 16 August 2008.
