Grampian Police Pipe Band Make Useful Start to Season

Grampian Police Pipe Band kicked off their competition season this weekend when they travelled to Dunbar on Saturday 10 May 2008, to participate in the first out door competition of the year.

 A relatively small field allowed the Band to play in both Grade 2 and Grade 1 competitions and they were placed an acceptable fourth and fifth respectively.   Pipe Major Drew Sinclair stated, "It's well documented the Band have been extensively rebuilding and we are pleased to be out there competing at the start of the season again.  We all recognise there is still a lot of work to do in order to get to the standard we want to be at and this weekend simply allowed us to assess our progress to date.   This was a useful exercise to get the band competing and get the new faces bedded in with nine players making their first competitive appearance with us.  It also showed just how much work still has to be done if we are to compete at the very top of the grade." PM Sinclair said "We are now focusing on the first major at Dumbarton in two weeks."
