Katrina Lovie - Piper

I Started piping in the late 1980s in the days when the Gordon Highlanders sent a piping tutor round schools in Aberdeenshire. Stuart Samson was tutor at the time and gave me a good grounding. Once I'd covered the basics I was directed to local band, Towie & District, where Ian Smith, Eddie Stuart and Marie Chapman provided further guidance. During my piping development I went to Jack Taylor, Aboyne, to learn pibroch and also enjoyed some sessions with Gordon Campbell during my student days at the Edinburgh University Piping Society.

I continue to play with Towie and I'm enjoying the challenge of my first season with the Grampian Police band.
