Grampian Police Pipe Band Receives Parliamentary Recognition

Brian Adam MSP, has formally acknowledged the centenary of Grampian Police Pipe Band by submitting a Parliamentary Motion.

Mr Adams said "The Grampian Police Pipe Band have been great ambassadors for the North East playing all over the world in competitions and other events.  As well as being an important part in tourism, pipe bands offer great opportunities to cultivate the musical talents of youngsters and I believe that many of those in the band have been tutored within the band.  Pipe Bands are still an important part of Scottish culture and I wish the Grampian Police Pipe Band the very best for another hundred years."

The Text of Motion reads:

That Parliament congratulates Grampian Police Pipe Band which celebrates its centenary this year; salutes the band's participation in many local and international events; acknowledges that pipe bands are international ambassadors of this country, create opportunities to cultivate musical talents among young people, and form an important part in Scotland's modern, inclusive culture.

The Band Manager, Chief Inspector Malcolm McMillan said, "It is always very rewarding to receive such acknowledgements and I was particularly pleased with the Parliamentary Motion kindly submitted by Mr Adam.  I am most grateful to him for taking the time to formally recognise the contribution the Band has made at a local, national and international level along with his kind words contained within the subsequent press release".
