The Band Secretary, Inspector Murray Main said, "During the initial planning stages for our Centenary Year, we identified an important aspect of the arrangements should include remembering and celebrating our proud history, specifically involving those who helped make the Band what it is today. We wrote to as many ex-members as we could get addresses for, sending letters throughout the world.
During the evening, which will include a performance by current Band members, renowned after dinner speaker, Mr Doug Duthie along with ex Band Manager, Mr Iain McCombie and current Band Manager, Mr Malcolm McMillan will provide personal accounts of their time in the Band, sharing experiences and tails of years gone by.
Inspector Main continued "We made a number of specific appeals for ex-players to get in touch with us via the local media and on our web site and we had a very positive response. I am aware we were unable to trace and contact all ex-members and would again appeal to anyone reading this to contact us if they are interested in joining us in what should be an excellent and appropriate night of celebration".
Invites to the night will shortly be sent out to all those who have already replied, however, anyone wishing further information about the event should contact Grampian Police Pipe Band via email on PipeBand2@grampian.pnn.police.uk or Inspector Murray Main, by telephoning (01224) 305129.
