Grampian Police Pipe Band continued their preparations for the forthcoming British Pipe Band Championships with success at the weekends local contest in Turriff.
On Sunday 1 June 2008, the Band competed in both grade 2 and grade 1 competitions at the 36th annual Turriff and District Pipe Band contest.
The Band were second overall in both competitions, a place higher than last years results. Pipe Major Drew Sinclair said, "I was pleased with the way we played. It was certainly an improvement on our performance at last weeks Scottish Championships in Dumbarton. The weather conditions on Sunday made setting up the Band more difficult for Colin, Nicky and myself and perhaps the sound reflected this, but over all, we are continuing to improve and gain confidence as a band."
