27th Sept – 2nd October 2006 Denmark, Herning Indoor Tattoo Grampian Police Pipe Band took part in a Military Tattoo and performed four shows over three days. We performed on our own as well as part of a massed pipes and drums display. We also participated in the finale when all the musical acts performed several pieces together. For our individual performance we chose to play a tune composed by Skye musician Blair Douglas entitled 'Angels from the Ashes' as the central piece. It is an evocative piece of music that was written in the wake of the attacks on New York City on 11 September 2001, as a tribute to those who perished. |

To provide additional depth to this piece the band played along to a backing track accompaniment. Also performing at the event were the 1st Battalion The Highlanders and the Regimental Band of the Grenadier Guards. The other picture also features the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion The Highlanders. The friendship and entertainment created and enjoyed between the two pipe bands was a highlight of the trip |
