Jade started drumming when she was 10 years old, being taught mainly by David Brown Snr and Roddy McDonald.
After a year, she joined the Bucksburn and District Novice Juvenile Band. She quickly progressed and made the jump to the "senior" band at the age of 15. Her first year competing with Bucksburn was also their first season in Grade 1 following success in the lower grade. Jade continued playing until the Band returning to grade 2 where they returned to successful times. In 2000, she travelled with the Band to Taiwan in order to promote the opening of a B&Q store. Jade says she thoroughly enjoyed her time with Bucksburn and learned a lot from her leading drummer David Brown Jnr. By the end of 2008, she felt it was time for a change and made the move to Tayside Police Pipe Band. During her time there she progressed her abilities and enjoyed the challenge of learning a new, more technical style which was influenced by leading drummer Ian Tobin. After playing with the Band, she decided to move back to a North East band and joined Grampian Police Pipe Band at the start of 2010. Jade is a Sales Support Executive for a local company. In her spare time she is also a Special Constable with Grampian Police. |
