Disappointing Start to Season

Grampian Police Pipe Band started their season with disappointment at the first Major Pipe Band Championships of the season.

The Band were placed 11th on Saturday, May 16, 2009, when they took to the field at the 100 Pipers Scottish Pipe Band Championships in a sunny Levengrove Park, Dumbarton.

The Band received mixed feedback from the two piping judges who awarded them 3rd and 11th respectively.  Drumming and ensemble were both 16th.

Pipe Major Drew Sinclair said, "This gave us a chance to compete for the first time this year and to play the new medley.  Obviously I’m disappointed with the overall placing but there are some positives to be taken, not least the 3rd placing from one of the judges.  We were not entirely satisfied with the performance and recognise there is still a lot of work to be done but I’m confident we will get better as the season continues. Our main focus this year needs to be the MSR's and we can now return to concentrating on them."

The Band can next be seen competing locally in Turriff on Sunday, June 7 and Aberdeen on Sunday, June 21.
