A flurry of activity during the winter months has resulted in the Band adding a total of seven new players to their existing corps.

Jennifer Elvin (Seven Towers), Richard Bond (2622 Highland Squadron) and Neil Evans (new signing) all join the pipe corps.

Experienced side drummers Jade McDermid (Tayside Police) and Mike Crichton (Buchan and District) have joined the drum corps.  Adding to the impressive new line of drummers is Murray Kane (Buchan and District) who previously played in the Police Band between 1998 and 2000.

Meanwhile Nicola Reid (Cutler and District) joins the tenor section.

Pipe Major Drew Sinclair said, "It's really good to be able to bring in quality pipers and drummers."

He added: "Nicky, Colin and I have been working hard to get experienced players in and freshen things up to ensure the Band are ready to compete at the highest level in our grade.

"These signings are significant as the new players will hopefully assist us in realising our full potential this year."

Leading Drummer Nicky Gibson said: "Jade, Mike and Murray will really add a new element and depth to the sides and I'm pleased to add another tenor drummer to give us resilience in the middle section."

Nicky added: "As a corps we have been practicing hard and we are looking forward to getting out there and competing."

PM Sinclair is not ruling out more signings.  He said:" There are a couple of other players interested in playing with us and we will see what happens over the next week or so but I am happy with the progress we've made."

PM Sinclair added: "The Band have put in a lot of hard work over the winter months and we are really looking forward to the season ahead."
