The new position of youth representative, ratified at the branches AGM in November last year, will allow younger members of the branch a say at management meetings.

The role will also involve Scott acting as a reporter for the branch magazine and developing the branch's on-line presence.

Scott said: "I am there to represent the views of the players, particularly the younger players."

"I think it's really important given the large number of young pipers and drummers here in the North of Scotland."

"I'm really looking forward to it."

As a representative of youth within the branch, upon turning 18 later this year, Scott will become an adult member of the management structure.

Branch Chairman, Mr. Bill Barclay said: "It's vital for the future of not just the branch, but piping and drumming in the North of Scotland that we listen to what everyone has to say."

"Younger people now have a representative they can speak to if they have an ideas, questions or comments about the running of the branch."

"Through Scott, we will hopefully be able to develop some of the online technology available to communicate more with our bands and members."

Police Band Manager, Inspector Murray Main added:  "This is a good opportunity for Scott to add an extra voice to the local Management Team.  He will also become our band representative at the branch."

Inspector Main added: "I am really pleased for him."

Scott can be contacted through the branches web site http://www.rspba-nos.org/
