Officers in Major Fund Raising Bid

Grampian Police Officers fund raising

Grampian Police officers are preparing to swap the streets of Aberdeen for the slopes of the West Highland Way this month as part of a major fundraising effort.

The four Aberdeen based Officers, including Band Manager, Inspector Murray Main, will be joined by other friends and colleagues when they take on the 96-mile challenge
from the northern outskirts of Glasgow, to the foot of Ben Nevis at Fort William to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The team are proposing to walk to the famous West Highland Way between June 19th – 24th, and are seeking sponsorship from anyone who may be able to assist.

Inspector Murray Main, said: "We each
know first hand the amazing work that Cancer Research UK does and there are many families together today only because of the incredible effort of those involved in cancer research.

"Sadly, however, not everyone is as lucky and we decided to do something in the hope that in some small way, we can say thank you to those who carry out the essential work undertaken by Cancer Research UK."

Murray continued, "We are aiming to raise £3000 to help contribute some of the necessary funds to fight this terrible uncompromising disease."

"We are almost half way to our target and it would be fantastic if we could raise the total amount."

Mark Colley-Davies, from Cancer Research UK, said: "It is still a sad fact that so many people are touched by cancer but it is only through the generous support of supporters like these officers, their colleagues and friends that we can carry out our vital research into curing cancer faster."
