Balmoral Group
Balmoral Group was established in 1980 with five employees, designing and manufacturing glass reinforced plastic products. Today, Balmoral has a payroll exceeding 300 and has a multi million pound turnover with approximately 30% being realised through exports.

The Group is divided into autonomous business units, each of which has responsibility for conducting business in several related product and service areas.

Balmoral Offshore Engineering
BOE provides a global service from concept development through detailed design, manufacturing and testing.

Products include production, rigid and distributed riser buoyancy, ROV/AUV and subsurface buoyancy, elastomer cable protectors, bend restrictors, stiffeners, clamps, VIV strakes and riser protection guards.

The company also operates its own hydrostatic test centre in Aberdeen which is capable of testing subsea products, from small systems through to the largest rigid riser modules, to depths equivalent of 6930msw.

Balmoral Tanks
Balmoral Tanks is a leading single source designer of sewage treatment plant, rainwater harvesting systems, fuel oil storage and dispensing tanks, oil separators, GRP and hot press steel sectional water tanks.

Covering the water, wastewater, civil, environmental, bulk liquid, chemical and fuel sectors, the company’s rotationally moulded seamless tanks are produced in capacities of up to 75,000 litres while the sectional water tanks can provide storage of potentially infinite capacity.

James Milne was born in Aberdeen in 1940. He is married to Gillian (m.2001), his second wife. Mr. Milne's first wife, Jill, sadly died from cancer in 1994. Mr. Milne has two daughters from his first marriage, Sarah (b.1985) and Caroline (b.1991). Mr. Milne also has two sons, Cameron (b.2002) and Ewan (b.2003).

He was awarded the CBE in 1994; received an honorary doctorate from Aberdeen's Robert Gordon University in 1999 and was made Burgess of Guild in the City of Aberdeen during 2004. Mr. Milne became Deputy Lieutenant of Aberdeen City in January 2007.

Mr. Milne is a Director of the Entrepreneurial Exchange, a member of the North-east Committee and Fellow of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry and Chairman of the Friends of ANCHOR, a fundraising body that supports cancer care and research at NHS Grampian.

Mr. Milne also offers financial support and personal mentoring advice to many other charities, both local and national, including: The Prince's Trust; The Meningitis Trust; VSA; Cornerstone; The Foyer Project; Solstice; Pitmedden Environmental Project and The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, through to local schools, arts centres and churches. It has been commented that Mr. Milne's input is significant and important.
