35th Annual Turriff and District Pipe Band Contest

Grampian Police Pipe Band continued their impressive centenary year with success at Saturday's 35th annual Turriff and District Pipe Band contest.

Participating in their first competition of the season, the 2006 North of Scotland Champions of Champions played in both grade 2 and grade 1, picking up third and second respectively.

Pipe Major Drew Sinclair said, "I was really pleased with the way we played considering this was our first competition of the season and the first time we have competed with our new drum corps".

The Band, who are celebrating one hundred years of music and tradition recently appointed Mr Nicky Gibson as their new Leading Drummer.  Nicky said, "It was good to get the Band playing together in a competition arena.  As a drum corps and Band, we still have some way to go but this was a good starting point".
